I have been creating the series, "Windows on the World," since 2003 and now have painted more than 40. Because of my interest in Asian art and culture, many of them have an Asian influence, either through the use of Kanji or Japanese and Chinese rice papers, or by design. They are painted on 300 lb. watercolor paper using fluid acrylics, and can include palette knife marks, collage, stamping with handmade stamps, and veiling. The veiling creates order out of the chaotic application of paint, scraping and spattering, with the tantalizing marks beneath showing through.
This painting has been juried into a number of national and international exhibitions, including San Diego Watercolor Society's 2008 International Exhibition and won an award.
