Papillon et Fleurs 1900px

Papillon et Fleurs appears to be a large butterfly in the foreground of flowers. It was painted wet-into-wet on unprimed canvas—or raw canvas—using a loose application of fluid acrylic paints.  The butterfly was created while the canvas was unmounted; paint applied and then folded back on itself to produce the second half of the butterfly. Then a free application of paint to create the flowers.  When dry, I used a glue bottle with a very fine point, filled it with fluid acrylic paint, and used it as a pen to energetically create the free movement around the images, sometimes simulating the shape of leaves and stems.
