Vivace-Opus #18

I majored in music education in college, and music has been an integral part of my life since I was a child. I am often moved to include it in my paintings. "Vivace: Opus #18" is a mixed media painting that includes collaged music. There are many layers to this painting, the first being a colorful but soft abstract. Then the music was transferred in a method that has embedded the print of the music in layers of a gloss medium. This is followed with layers of wet paint, using alcohol to create texture as it moves the top layer aside to reveal an underlayer. Once the painting was completed, the paper was mounted on canvas and finished with a simple floater frame.
