Immersion

I have been enthralled by Helen Frankenthaler and the American Expressionists and their experimentations with painting on unprimed canvas and with color field studies.  Like some of my other abstracts, this is painted with fluid acrylics on wet canvas, allowing for softened edges and flowing color, much like watercolor.  This may have been the first painting in this style for me, and it remains one of my favorites, both for its simplicity and for the beautiful colors and the way they merge.  "Immersion" is mounted on a firm surface and is framed in a simple black illusion frame.
