Portrait of an Iris

I grow several varieties of irises in my gardens around my lake house.  They are such gorgeous flowers and just take my breath away.  So I photograph them here, as well as in friends' gardens and paint them often.  What appeals to me is the sensual curves and ruffles, the beautiful translucent petals, and the sturdy green leaves.  The irises are painted in different sizes and styles, this one more of an impression of one of my favorite irises.  I paint a series of very small paintings, framed and matted in 10" x 8" gold leaf frames, to have available for clients who want smaller paintings for their homes or for gifts.
