Portfolio of Works

These abstracts range from acrylic on paper to acrylic on canvas, as well as watercolor and mixed media on paper and other supports.

In this collection you will see my favorite bird, flamingoes, as well as scenes around the beautiful inland lake where we live in Southwest Michigan.

I love growing and painting flowers, especially close-ups that almost become abstracted -- that reveal the very essence of the flower. That being said, you will see a variety of styles, from abstract to realism.

These portraits are both family and friends. I have especially enjoyed painting them in watercolor and appreciating the transparency to capture skin tones. I have been known to use figures to design paintings which you can see here in the Relationship series.

PASTICHE-Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

a musical, literary, or artistic composition made up of selections from different works: potpourri; hodgepodge

These little gems, either 4" square or 3" square, are created in many layers, sometimes as many as 30. They include painted tissue papers, image transfers, gold and silver leaf, found objects -- such as unusual paper clips or watch parts, cancelled postage stamps, and much more.

Along with full-size paintings, I paint very small works of 3" x 5" and frame them either 5" x 7" or 8" x 10". These make affordable pieces for new collectors and for gifts. These sometimes serve as experiments for larger pieces, for trying out color palettes, or for newfound textures.
